Baseball Recap: Homestead Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Homestead barely beat Adams Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Spartans put the hurt on the Flying Jets with a sharp 17-0 victory on Monday. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Jacob Erb looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Gray Stockwell was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cole Kintz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and three runs.

Homestead was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .586. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive games.

Homestead pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Adams Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-4.
