Baseball Recap: Mott Comes Up Short

Mott extended their losing streak to 17 on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-17 in the process. They fell 4-1 to the Kettering Captains. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Captains this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-5 on Saturday.

Mott saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Robertoy, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Kettering, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games.

On Kettering's side, TYLER YUHAS was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave YUHAS a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, KAIDEN KAPA was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. He has become a key player for Kettering: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 4-7 otherwise. RYDER REPPUHN was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mott will face off against Walled Lake Western at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Corsairs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Kettering, they will welcome Walled Lake Northern at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Captains surely won't give up without a fight.
