Basketball Recap: Pierre Deshields' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Franklin Road Christian over Horizon Christian Academy

Franklin Road Christian saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Horizon Christian Academy Warriors.

Franklin Road Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Pierre DeShields, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. What's more, DeShields also racked up five assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Mason Alcorn, who posted 12 points and eight boards.

Franklin Road Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Horizon Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin Road Christian will take on Riverside Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Franklin Road Christian is facing Riverside Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Riverside Christian Academy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Horizon Christian Academy, they will face off against Fideles Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Horizon Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Fideles Christian likes a good challenge.
