Basketball Recap: West Columbus Takes a Loss

West Columbus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 72-34 defeat at the hands of the West Bladen Knights. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 525th, while the Knights are ranked 18th).

West Columbus' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emanuez Jones, who posted nine points and three steals. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played.

West Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for West Bladen, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

West Columbus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-41 loss against South Columbus on the 12th. West Bladen will take on Farmville Central in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th. West Bladen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Farmville Central likes a good challenge.
