Baseball Game Preview: Glens Falls Black Bears vs. Gloversville Huskies/Dragons

The Glens Falls Black Bears will face off against the Gloversville Huskies/Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Glens Falls' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Gloversville has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Glens Falls lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hudson Falls, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Black Bears put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 16-6 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Black Bears considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Aidan Perry made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brayden Bennett was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Freddie Wilson was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI.

Glens Falls was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hudson Falls only posted a batting average of .208.

Meanwhile, Gloversville didn't have quite enough to beat Maple Hill on Saturday and fell 3-2.

Glens Falls has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Gloversville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Glens Falls was able to grind out a solid victory over Gloversville in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 4-0. Do the Black Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies/Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
