Football Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

After soaring to 52 points the game before, Newark was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 35-13 to the Groveport-Madison Cruisers. The Wildcats have struggled against the Cruisers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Newark still got an impressive performance from Bodie Smith, who threw for 181 yards and one touchdown, and also punched in one score on the ground.

Even if they lost, Newark's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 5.5 sacks. Leading the way was Preston Lunsford with 3.5. Another thorn in Groveport-Madison's side was Roy Price, who picked up 1.5 sacks and made 11 total tackles (2.5 for loss).

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Groveport-Madison, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
