Football Game Preview: Coventry Christian vs. Chincoteague Ponies + Official Tickets

Two dominant backs in Luke Hunter and Camaury Davis are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Coventry Christian will take on the Chincoteague Ponies at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Coventry Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Maryland School for the Deaf, who was ranked first in their home state at the time (Coventry Christian was ranked first). Coventry Christian was dealt a 44-16 defeat at the hands of Maryland School for the Deaf two weeks ago. The game marked Coventry Christian's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Dom Wittman put forth a good effort for the losing side as he picked up 19 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 34 yards. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending two passes.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-16, which was the final score in Chincoteague's tilt against Southampton Academy on Friday. The Ponies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Although Chincoteague took the loss, they still got scores from Davis and Jakai Simon.

Chincoteague's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Coventry Christian, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
