Baseball Recap: Hawaii Prep Gets the Win

While Hawaii Prep's win against Ka'u wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Ka Makani skirted past the Trojans 4-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-0 win two weeks ago.

Lex Ni and Asher Anderson were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Ni tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Anderson struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Ni has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. At bat, Ni went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Anderson scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI Ni has posted since back in February of 2024.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leon Kikukawa, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Hawaii Prep has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ka'u, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Hawaii Prep has already played their next matchup, a 9-1 defeat against Honoka'a on the 15th. Ka'u does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
