Baseball Game Preview: Walker Wildcats vs. East Ascension Spartans

The Walker Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the East Ascension Spartans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Walker has six straight victories, East Ascension has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Walker proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by nine) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Central.

Meanwhile, East Ascension fell victim to Walker and their airtight pitching crew. They lost 9-0 to the Wildcats.

East Ascension saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dawson Landry, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Walker pushed their record up to 23-8 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for East Ascension, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-19-1.

Everything went Walker's way against East Ascension when the teams last played on Thursday, as Walker made off with a 9-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
