Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of KIRSTEN ESCHBACH and MALEAH GALELLA Lead Montrose to Victory

Montrose's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Elk Lake Warriors. The Meteors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

One reason for the win was Montrose's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-21, 25-19.

Leading Montrose to victory were MALEAH GALELLA and KIRSTEN ESCHBACH. GALELLA had 16 digs and two assists, while ESCHBACH had 13 digs and four aces. That's the most assists GALELLA has posted since back in September of 2024.

Montrose's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. As for Elk Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-10.

Montrose and Elk Lake could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Meteors will challenge Blue Ridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (103 vs. 33). Meanwhile, Elk Lake (ranked 340th) will meet Abington Heights (ranked 11th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
