Baseball Game Preview: Monmouth Academy Mustangs vs. Lisbon Greyhounds

The Monmouth Academy Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Lisbon Greyhounds at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Monmouth Academy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Sacopee Valley just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-3.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Lisbon's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Valley on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Lisbon got a good showing from Lincoln Matthews, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Matthews has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Lisbon's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Monmouth Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Monmouth Academy took their win against Lisbon in their previous matchup back in June of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
