Basketball Recap: Sonora Victorious

Sonora fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against the Oceanside Pirates by a score of 58-50 on Thursday.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Fernandez, who went 9 of 15 en route to 20 points and six rebounds. Those 20 points gave Fernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tan Nguyen, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Sonora's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Oceanside, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Sonora wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-54 win against Adelanto on the 27th. As for Oceanside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-50 victory against Westview on the 27th.
