Baseball Recap: Fairfield Takes a Loss

Fairfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Edwards County Lions. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mules of the 4-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Fairfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tallen Hixenbaugh, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Caleb King also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Edwards County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Coming up, Fairfield is taking a road trip to square off against Cisne at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Edwards County will be paying especially close attention to the Mules' contest: after the Mules faces off against the Runnin' Lions, they'll take on Edwards County again at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
