Softball Recap: Johnston Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with East Greenwich

Johnston faced East Greenwich in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Panthers lost 11-3 to the Avengers. The Panthers have struggled against the Avengers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Haley Boudreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kalyn Foster was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Bella Boudreau was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for East Greenwich, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
