Football Game Preview: Damascus Hornets vs. Oakdale

The Damascus Hornets will take on Oakdale on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Damascus is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over Rockville. 42 seems to be a good number for the Hornets as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Meanwhile, while Oakdale put up plenty of points last Friday, the same can't be said for Tuscarora. Oakdale took their game with ease, bagging a 49-0 victory over Tuscarora. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Oakdale's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Tuscarora is ranked 153rd).

Damascus better keep an eye on Alex Rodriguez. He was instrumental in Oakdale's win, rushing for 29 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 72 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Damascus has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.8 points on average over those games. As for Oakdale, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Damascus took a serious blow against Oakdale in their previous matchup back in September, falling 43-0. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
