Baseball Recap: Straughn Comes Up Short

After flying high against Bullock County last Thursday, Straughn came back down to earth. The Straughn Tigers took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vincent Yellow Jackets on Saturday.

Straughn saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Ashberry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Ashberry has posted since back in March of 2024.

Straughn's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Vincent, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Looking ahead, Straughn will face off against Brantley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Straughn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Vincent, they are taking a road trip to challenge Westbrook Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
