Football Recap: Springfield Catholic Starts off Right with Win over East Newton

Springfield Catholic had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past the East Newton Patriots with a 31-27 win. This was payback for the Fighting Irish, who suffered a 21-13 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caden Youngblood and Virgil Rosiere certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Youngblood rushed for 121 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, while Rosiere picked up 79 receiving yards and one score.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springfield Catholic will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Newton, they will face off against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
