Baseball Recap: Merkel Find Success

On SaturdayMerkel's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Roosevelt Eagles. While the Badgers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Eli Delgado was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. CJ Walcott was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases.

Merkel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .537 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Merkel's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Roosevelt, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Merkel will face off against Ballinger at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Roosevelt, they will be playing at home against New Home at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
