Softball Game Preview: Dexter Tigers vs. Houlton Shiretowners

The Dexter Tigers will face off against the Houlton Shiretowners on Tuesday. Dexter will be strutting in after a victory while Houlton will be coming in after a loss.

On Thursday, Dexter earned an 8-3 win over Orono. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Riots: they've now won three in a row.

Kallie Stone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Kaitlyn Cookson was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Dunton, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Houlton didn't have quite enough to beat Mattanawcook on Wednesday and fell 4-2. The Shiretowners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dexter's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Houlton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
