Baseball Recap: Carver A&T Takes a Loss

Carver A&T couldn't beat Woodlawn on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Wildcats fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 8-7. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Trevor Schnirel was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Carver A&T is 3-1 when Schnirel posts two or more runs, but 0-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Benjamin Arneklev made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Magnus Mumford was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Carver A&T's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Woodlawn, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5.

Coming up, Carver A&T will face off against Chesapeake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodlawn, they will challenge Patapsco at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
