Basketball Recap: Alexandra Vandiver's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Mary's over Archbishop Spalding

After soaring to 73 points the game before, St. Mary was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They came up short against the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers, falling 45-24. The game marked the Saints' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexandra Vandiver, who posted five points and five boards. Maddie Murray also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

St. Mary's has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Archbishop Spalding, they moved to 5-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
