Softball Recap: Maranatha Christian Picks Up Third Straight Win on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Foothills Christian, Maranatha Christian was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the La Jolla Country Day Torreys by a score of 9-4. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Torreys recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Hannah Visser made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kennedy Arango was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Hope Fitzherbert was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-4.

Maranatha Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Maranatha Christian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for La Jolla Country Day, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-5 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Maranatha Christian will square off against St. Joseph Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for La Jolla Country Day, they will take on Valley Center at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
