York faced Downers Grove North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Dukes took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Dukes' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

While York was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-23.

Hunter Stepanich paced York's offense, picking up nine kills. Stepanich got some help from Carson Cruver and his 22 assists. Finally, Joe McGreal and Leo Nardini kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked two attacks.

York's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-4. As for Downers Grove North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. York will challenge Riverside-Brookfield at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downers Grove North, they will square off against Wheaton North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
