Softball Recap: String Theory Falls Short of Philadelphia Academy Charter in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact String Theory can now relate to. They fell just short of the Philadelphia Academy Charter Chargers by a score of 6-5 on Monday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Philadelphia Academy Charter this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in April.

Annamae Uhl spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alaina Petrone was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Danica Divincenzo was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.

String Theory's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-10. As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

String Theory does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Philadelphia Academy Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against George Washington at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
