Bound Brook's batters probably weren't too happy with Gabby Mongo, who pitched a no hitter and racked up seven Ks (she gave up two walks). Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Mongo.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kriztina Lekai, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brooke Helpinstill, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Bernards hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Warren Hills Regional had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Delaware Valley 4-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Laney Adie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Sienna Cardell was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Erin Boykin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Bernards' win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Warren Hills Regional, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Bernards skirted past Warren Hills Regional 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Mountaineers repeat their success, or do the Blue Streaks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
