Preview: Northside Christian Mustangs vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles
The Northside Christian Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside Christian will be strutting in after a win while Indian Rocks Christian will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Northside Christian made easy work of American Collegiate Academy and carried off a 23-2 victory. The result was nothing new for Northside Christian, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Chase Burrill and Cailon Kaigler were among the main playmakers for Northside Christian as the former threw for 75 yards and two touchdowns and the latter picked up 51 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Gavin Richardson also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian suffered a rough 35-14 defeat at the hands of New Smyrna Beach on Friday.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kaiden Nobles, who rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only six carries. Nobles' longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards.
Northside Christian's victory on Friday bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Indian Rocks Christian, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Northside Christian against Indian Rocks Christian when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 47-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northside Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
