Football Recap: Watauga Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Watauga walked away with it. They walked away with a 27-19 victory over the Charlotte Catholic Cougars on Friday. The 27-point effort marked the Pioneers' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Cade Keller continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 199 yards and one TD while completing 85.3% of his passes. Matthew Leon got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Watauga's run defense was locked in: Charlotte Catholic could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank John Wilson Mills for the heroic effort on defense: he. Watauga's ground attack was stronger, having averaged five.

Watauga's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.1 points over those games. As for Charlotte Catholic, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-5.

Watauga didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-28 win against Sun Valley on the 28th. Charlotte Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
