Baseball Game Preview: Richmond Hill Lions vs. St. Peter's Eagles

The Richmond Hill Lions will head out on the road to take on the St. Peter's Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Richmond Hill got the win against Scholars Academy by a conclusive 16-1. The Lions haven't had any issues with Scholars Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Richmond Hill got a massive performance out of Anaiscio Ortiz, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Christian Duarte was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Richmond Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .628. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Scholars Academy only posted an OBP of .286.

Meanwhile, St. Peter's gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Grand Street Campus 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

St. Peter's saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Levine, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Richmond Hill pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for St. Peter's, their record is now 5-1.

Richmond Hill couldn't quite get it done against St. Peter's in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can Richmond Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
