Basketball Recap: Denver Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Gilpin County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Denver Academy). They blew past the Gilpin County Eagles 101-34 on Saturday. With that win, the Mustangs brought their scoring average up to 52 points per game.

Denver Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Allen, who dropped a triple-double with 24 points, 13 assists, and ten steals. With that strong performance, Allen is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Chris Janssen was another key player, going 13-for-18 en route to 30 points along with five boards and three steals.

Allen wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Denver Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 26 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Denver Academy's victory bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Gilpin County, they are on a 43-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-23.
