Basketball Recap: Indian Springs Piles Up the Points Against Verbena

Indian Springs won the last time they faced Verbena and things went their way on Thursday too. The Indian Springs Student took their matchup with ease, bagging a 75-31 win over the Verbena Red Devils. The game marked the Student's most dominant victory of the season.

It was another big night for Dylan Heald, who almost dropped a triple-double on 28 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. That's the most boards he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Simms, who posted 12 points and five assists.

Heald wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Indian Springs was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Verbena only racked up 11 assists.

When it comes to explaining why Verbena lost, don't look at Caleb Short. Despite the final result, he earned 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Short is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hayden Wilson, who scored six points in addition to five assists and five boards.

Indian Springs has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.2 points per game. As for Verbena, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Indian Springs has already played their next match, a 44-43 win against Pleasant Grove on the 3rd. As for Verbena, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 45-43 victory against Notasulga on the 3rd.
