Softball Recap: Anthem Prep Drops Season-High Score on Maryvale Prep

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Anthem Prep). They put the hurt on the Maryvale Prep Matador with a sharp 28-8 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Anthem Prep got a massive performance out of Molly McCabe, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave McCabe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Garcia, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Anthem Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Maryvale Prep only posted a batting average of .267.

The win (which was Anthem Prep's third in a row) raised their record to 14-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Maryvale Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Anthem Prep nor Maryvale Prep have any future games scheduled.
