Baseball Recap: Columbian Comes Up Short

The Columbian Tornadoes came up short against the Clay Eagles on Monday and fell 4-1.

Jamison Woessner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

Columbian's defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Clay, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbian will be taking part in a tournament against Madison Comprehensive at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tornadoes are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Clay, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oak Harbor at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
