Basketball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Comes Up Short

Mt. Pleasant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 87-65 to the Geibel Catholic Gators. The Vikings were not able to make up for their defeat to the Gators from their previous meeting back in January of 2023.

Geibel Catholic was led to victory by Gary Tarbuk and Evan Strimel. Tarbuk went 8 of 16 en route to 19 points along with seven assists and six steals, while Strimel went 7 for 14 on his way to 20 points and eight assists. That's the most assists Tarbuk has posted since back in January of 2024. Seth Dolan was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 14 points.

Mt. Pleasant's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Geibel Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season.

Mt. Pleasant has already played their next match (against Geibel Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Geibel Catholic will challenge Serra Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geibel Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Serra Catholic likes a good challenge.
