Baseball Game Preview: Glenbrook South Titans vs. Oxford Yellow Jackets

The Glenbrook South Titans will face off against the Oxford Yellow Jackets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Glenbrook South 4, Oxford 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Glenbrook South is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since April 15, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Blackman by a score of 7-5. The loss was the Titans' first of the season.

Glenbrook South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Nottage, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Nottage has posted since back in April of 2024. Michael Eschenbach also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Oxford entered their tilt with Lane Tech on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Champions by a score of 8-4.

Rocco Mamiscalco was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Gilman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Oxford's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Glenbrook South, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Oxford's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Glenbrook South has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game.
