Football Game Preview: Palm Desert Aztecs vs. Marina Vikings + Official Tickets

The Palm Desert Aztecs will take on the Marina Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palm Desert knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Marina likes a good challenge.

If Palm Desert beats Marina with 35 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Aztecs really took it to La Quinta for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 victory. The Aztecs pushed the score to 28-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Blackhawks had little chance of recovering from.

It was another big night for Alfred 'AJ' Rivera Jr., who threw for 301 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards and two scores. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Jonah Toland did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 125 receiving yards.

Palm Desert's defense didn't let Roman Ansley, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece. Palm Desert got some further help from Pine: he picked up a sack, made eight total tackles, and defended one pass.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Marina was not quite Beckman's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. While the Vikings had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Patriots 7-0.

Palm Desert pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.4 points over those games. As for Marina, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.
