Flag Football Recap: Maine South Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Maine South had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past the DePaul College Prep Rams with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 23-6. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Rams are ranked 36th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The critical scores for Maine South came from Aribella Spandiary, Julia Laske, and Maria Korovilas.

Maine South's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Ella Rice.

Maine South's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 1.5 points on average over those games. As for DePaul College Prep, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-4.
