Recap: Pensacola Catholic Crusaders vs. Suwannee Bulldogs
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Pensacola Catholic Crusaders had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Suwannee at home to the tune of 41-6. Considering Pensacola Catholic has won six contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Nigel Nelson, who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Howard, who rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Pensacola Catholic, bringing their record for this year to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Munroe and 4-6 St. John Paul II (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 38.9% over those games). As for Suwannee, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
Pensacola Catholic will head out on the road to face off against Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Walton will be hoping to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last. Suwannee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
