Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Landon Gilliatt and Noah Smith Lead Plainfield to Victory

Plainfield's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Northview Knights by a score of 74-61. The Quakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Knights, too.

Leading Plainfield to victory were Noah Smith and Landon Gilliatt. Smith almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds, while Gilliatt went 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and eight assists. With that strong performance, Smith is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Harper Baker-Lands was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brayden Goff, who went 5 for 8 en route to 20 points and six assists. Goff's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Perry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Plainfield is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Northview, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-1.

Plainfield has already played their next contest, a 70-61 defeat against Lawrence North on the 21st. As for Northview, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 61-32 win against Owen Valley on the 23rd.
