Port Washington came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Hartford Orioles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

While Port Washington might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Hartford scored at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-22.

Port Washington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emersyn Loose led the charge by getting 18 digs and five assists. That's the most digs Loose has posted over her last 12 matchups. Sierra Hoeft was another key player, getting 26 assists and four digs.

Several Orioles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lydia Krasselt, who had 21 assists and seven digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kora Kirsch, who had 13 digs.

Port Washington's record now sits at 21-9. As for Hartford, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.

Port Washington will be taking part in a tournament against Plymouth at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hartford, they will head out on the road to challenge Homestead at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
