Soccer Game Preview: Evergreen Valley vs. Yerba Buena

The Evergreen Valley Cougars will square off against the Yerba Buena Aztec Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Evergreen Valley's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for seven straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monday just wasn't the day for Evergreen Valley's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monta Vista on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1030th, while the Matadors are ranked 256th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Yerba Buena, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Gilroy a 2-0 shutout on Friday.

Evergreen Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-1. As for Yerba Buena, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Evergreen Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Yerba Buena in their previous meeting back in May of 2021, sneaking past 2-1. Does Evergreen Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Yerba Buena turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
