The Fall River Bulldogs will take on the Trinity Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Fall River has given up an average of 30.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Fall River is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Modoc.
Despite the loss, Fall River had strong showings from Raul Iniguez, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of TDs, and Abraham Estes, who rushed for 94 yards. An impressive showing, but Estes really ramped things up playing D: he made 14 total tackles and defended one pass. Isaiah Vargas was in the mix as well, providing Fall River with one score.
Fall River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Iniguez and James Taylor. Fall River received some extra help from Vargas, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Trinity). They put the hurt on Etna with a sharp 28-6 victory on Friday. With the Wolves ahead 21-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Trinity's win came from a few key players Fall River will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Carver Dresselhaus, who threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes, and also rushed for 54 yards and one TD on only five carries. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (138.6). Another player making a difference was Wes Dresselhaus, who gained 178 total yards and a touchdown.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Trinity proved: they limited Etna to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Dresselhaus for the heroic effort on defense: he. Trinity didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.
Trinity's defense didn't let Carter Isbell, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Dresselhaus was especially locked on to Etna's QB and sacked him twice.
The win made it two in a row for Trinity and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 points in those games. As for Fall River, they now also have a losing record of 2-3.
Everything went Fall River's way against Trinity in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Fall River made off with a 52-30 win. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
