Baseball Game Preview: Palo Alto Vikings vs. Archbishop Riordan Crusaders

The Palo Alto Vikings will face off against the Archbishop Riordan Crusaders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Palo Alto has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Palo Alto is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They skirted past Carlmont 15-13. With that victory, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Palo Alto got a massive performance out of Isaiah Walker, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Walker a new career-high. Dexter Cleveringa was another key player, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

Palo Alto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Riordan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Valley Christian, falling 7-1.

Keoni Ordonez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Palo Alto has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Riordan, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13-1.
