Preview: Sudan Hornets vs. Lockney Longhorns

Sudan has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The Lockney Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Sudan beat Hale Center 20-7.

Marcello King and Trent Wilson were among the main playmakers for Sudan as the former rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown and the latter rushed for 111 yards.

Meanwhile, Lockney had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past Crosbyton 49-16 at home.

Xavier Jimenez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 217 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Dyllan Thiebaud, who threw for 67 yards and two touchdowns.

Sudan's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 4-2. To be fair, it's not like the team was facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-5 Hale Center and 1-4 Plains (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.8% over those games). Lockney has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in four of their first five matchups, giving them a 4-1 record.

Everything came up roses for Sudan against Lockney in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-21 victory. Does Sudan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lockney turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
