Baseball Game Preview: Berkeley Prep Buccaneers vs. Sickles Gryphons

The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers will take on the Sickles Gryphons at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Berkeley Prep beat Clearwater Central Catholic 7-3. The victory continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won three in a row.

Briggs Tibbals looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Berkeley Prep's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jett Walters, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Carson Binder, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sickles was able to grind out a solid win over Plant on Wednesday, taking the game 7-4.

Cole Shearer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Martz, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Sickles' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Berkeley Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
