Basketball Recap: David Kern Key Part of Team Effort in Rockets Win

Maplewood's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They managed a 65-61 win over the Chalker Wildcats. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Maplewood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was David Kern, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave Kern a new career-high in assists (three). Ethan Nevinski was another key player, on his way to 21 points and five rebounds.

Maplewood's victory bumped their record up to 5-16. As for Chalker, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Maplewood has already played their next game, a 55-53 win against Conneaut on the 15th. As for Chalker, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 80-48 loss against Harding on the 19th.
