Basketball Game Preview: East Wake Academy Eagles vs. Raleigh Charter Phoenix

The East Wake Academy Eagles will head out to square off against the Raleigh Charter Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Wake Academy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 12.

Last Tuesday, East Wake Academy came up short against NCSSM: Durham and fell 63-50. The Eagles were down 49-23 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Meanwhile, Raleigh Charter hadn't done well against Research Triangle recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Raleigh Charter walked away with a 41-30 victory over Research Triangle. That 11 point margin sets a new team best for the Phoenix this season.

East Wake Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Raleigh Charter, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-11.

East Wake Academy strolled past Raleigh Charter in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 65-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Wake Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
