Basketball Recap: Franklin Comes Up Short

After soaring to 62 points the game before, Franklin was a bit more limited in their match on Saturday. They were dealt a 56-26 loss at the hands of the Axtell Wildcats. The Flyers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-9.

When it comes to explaining why Franklin lost, don't look at Eldon Haack. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 50% of Franklin's points, marking the third time in a row Haack has posted more than a third of the team's points. Isaac Haack was another key player, putting up three points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Franklin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Jacob Halvorsen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds for Axtell. The game was Halvorsen's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Cade Axtell, who had 15 points and five boards.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-17. As for Axtell, their record now sits at 8-13.

Franklin has already played their next match, a 55-19 loss against Red Cloud on the 21st. Axtell has also already played their next contest (against Southern Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
