Basketball Game Preview: Manila Lions vs. Rector Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Lions take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Manila has ten straight victories, Rector has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Thursday, Manila humbled Osceola with a 68-22 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Rector played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against East Poinsett County, falling 55-33.

Manila's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-5. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.4 points over those games. As for Rector, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Manila was able to grind out a solid victory over Rector when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 69-57. Does Manila have another victory up their sleeve, or will Rector turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
