Soccer Game Preview: Heritage vs. Corinth Holders

Heritage is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Corinth Holders is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Huskies will welcome the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Heritage's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Corinth Holders' offense will have their work cut out for them.

Heritage is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: Wake Forest, who was ranked eighth at the time (Heritage was ranked 11th). The Huskies never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Thursday. Give Heritage's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Landry Boyles, who's now up to 17 this season.

While Corinth Holders' fans didn't get a definitive result on Wednesday, they were treated to the team's highest-scoring tie of the season. They and Garner finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw. There's a chance things could've gone differently had Corinth Holders not been charged with a red card from Kendall Wells.

Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-1-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up three goals over those eight contests. With that draw, Corinth Holders' record moves to 9-5-4.

Everything went Heritage's way against Corinth Holders in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as Heritage made off with a 9-1 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
