Baseball Recap: Cascade Comes Up Short

Cascade extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 3-13. They lost 11-1 to the Arlington Eagles. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Cascade saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Caldwell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

As for Arlington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

On Arlington's side, Jace Graham looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Graham has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Arlington let Reidar Gudgeon and Brayden Jewett run wild. Gudgeon went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Jewett got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Jewett has become a key player for Arlington: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-9 otherwise. Aiden Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

While Cascade had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
